How We Work
Every session follows a structured process. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you get in touch to the moment you leave with a written savings plan in hand.
Built around real documents, not estimates
Most budgeting advice relies on what people think they spend. We work with what they actually spent, documented and verifiable.
Document preparation
After you contact us, we send a straightforward checklist. It covers bank statements from the last three months, utility bills, any subscription invoices you can find, and receipts if you keep them. Not everyone has everything, and that's fine. We work with what's available and note gaps where they exist.
The preparation takes most families about 20 minutes. We ask you not to organise or categorise anything beforehand. That's our job.
The joint review session
We come to you. The session typically takes two to three hours and happens at your kitchen or dining table. Both partners should be present if possible. Children over twelve are welcome to sit in.
We go through every statement line by line. Each charge gets identified, named, and placed into a category. Some things surprise people. A subscription they forgot existed. A fee that appeared automatically after a trial ended. A delivery charge that shows up far more often than expected.
We don't judge any of it. The session is observational, not evaluative.
Building the expense map
As we categorise, the map takes shape. By the end of the review, you have a visual representation of your household's financial flows. Fixed costs. Variable costs. Recurring charges. Impulse purchases. Each category shows its total and its share of the whole.
Seeing it visually changes something. Numbers on a statement feel abstract. A map where the motorway coffee stops occupy a visible segment next to the mortgage payment makes the picture concrete.
The savings plan
The final deliverable is a written document. It lists every identified savings opportunity, the specific monthly amount involved, and a practical note on how to act on it. Items are ordered by ease of implementation, so you can start with the changes that require the least effort and move toward the ones that need more planning.
You leave the session with this document. It's yours. We don't hold back recommendations for a second meeting or a follow-up package. Everything we found goes into the plan.
